OHSAS 18001:2007
Seals Technology was accredited with OHSAS 18001:2007 certification for its occupational, health and safety system on 28 Aug 10. This certification is our testimony in providing a safe and healthy working environment for our customers and employees. In order to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our employees, we enhance safety and health awareness through trainings for both current and new employees.

When new staffs are recruited, they will have to go through an induction program which compromises orientation and on-the job training on safety, risk assessment and risk management. This includes the identification of potential hazards for the various work activities, possible accident/health hazard and the person at risk, as well as safety measures to follow. After the orientation, new staffs will be attached to the supervisor of his job function for On-Job-Training to enable the staff to familiarize with the risk management system, associated job function and job responsibility. They will also be guided and trained by the immediate supervisor or designated personnel on hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management during the On-Job-training.

Refresher training will be conducted for current employees whenever there are changes in processes, introduction of new processes or machinery, changes in job function and responsibility which have significant OHS impact. Non-conformances found during the internal audit and problems and mistakes made by staff which will lead to significant OHS issues will be disciplinarily dealt with and remedial actions taken, where appropriate. In order to ensure that the employees are well-equipped and competent in their scope of work, a staff training plan has been implemented and reviewed annually. Employees are also sent for relevant external courses for upgrading of their skills when such courses are available.

In ensuring that our employees are working in a safe and healthy environment, we ensure that our safety and health measurements are carried out. Site and equipments inspection are conducted monthly and recorded. There are various records to keep track of the safety and health measurements such as:

1.Issuing of personal protective equipment record
2.Machinery and Equipment maintenance program
3.Register of hazardous substances and chemicals

Meetings are conducted regularly to review the safety and health measures carried out. All these measures ensure that our employees are able to work in a safe, healthy and conducive environment in order to optimize employees’ ability to produce cost effective and high quality products for our customers.
